(January 1st. Fixed the date. ~Mirage. Anyway, this thread is open to everyone except the super villains. Just for a developing thread.)
Macintosh stepped out of his world onto the astral plane and gasped, looking at all the portals from every world around the galaxy. He smiled brightly and curiously. He chuckled. "Cool."
He pushed himself out in the middle of what looked like a modern airport or would look like that if he knew what one was. His hair flowed over his eyes and he pushed it back slightly, dipping his head and turning towards the back of his world to make sure it wouldn't close up.
He whistled. "Fancy tha'..." He mumbled, "Looks like we aren't the only world floatin' 'round here, aye?"

Young Macintosh wasn't the only one to have discovered and decided to explore a portal. Mirage tentatively put her hand through first, then stepped through it completely. She stood in wide-eyed silence for a moment, taking in the strange immensity of the astral plain she now stood on. Her jaw hung slack as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing. She came to focus upon a curly haired young man stood across the plain from her, and blinked in confusion. His appearance was a little strange to say the least. It seemed very...traditional, old fashioned Scottish. She wondered if the blue tattoo snaking up his right arm was traditional too.
Stepping forward, she approached the young man with a cautiousness and confusion. "Hello," she said as she stopped about a metre from him. She paused for a moment to sweep her eyes over the portals around the plain again. "Did you...come from one of these portals too?"

"Whoa, puppy... what d'you suppose this place is?" Toy dog's question was rehtorical as he padded out of the portal, wide eyes seeming to stretch even wider in his wooden head as he stared around him. It had been mostly by accident that Slinky had entered the dimensional rift that had appeared in Bonnie's room - his backend had slipped through first, so he'd followed it through - and now he stared around at the amazing landscape. It was unlike anything he'd ever seen before, and the canine couldn't deny a curiosity, a desire to look around. Bonnie and her mother were out for the day, so Slink doubted he'd be missed by the girl if he checked this place out a bit further... after all, it wasn't every day a gateway to another world appeared right in front of you.
It was very belatedly that Slinky noticed that he wasn't alone; he'd been so preoccupied that he had only just caught sight of the humans, and the stretchy dog quickly froze, a motionless toy once again, hoping that neither of the people had seen him moving of his own accord. Typical rules might not apply in different dimensions, but Slink didn't want to take that chance unless he had to.

Soon after Slinky dog entered the plain, another followed through a different portal. French captain muttered angrily to herself as she stepped through the portal. She had lost the scent of the mongrel mutt she had been hunting. And DuBois didn't like it when she was thwarted. However, upon noticing where she was - actually, where was she? - the mongrel went out of mind. DuBois stared around for a moment, then noticed two people. She made to walk over to them to demand to know where she was, but as she took a step, she felt a small object blocking her path. She looked down, and raised an eyebrow in confusion. "A toy chien?" she muttered to herself, bending down to pick up the slinky dog toy. "What is this toy doing here?" French woman moved to grab the head of the wooden toy.
